Education and skills provide a brighter future.
Haiti remains the poorest country in the Latin America and the Caribbean region and among the poorest countries in the world. Haiti's economic and social development continues to be halted by gang violence and their control of many parts of the country.
With 60% unemployment and half the population living well below the poverty line, the future may seem bleak . The goal of The Scottish Haitian Foundation is to provide care and accommodation for kids in need and teach them skills which will enable them to grow in confidence and provide themselves with an income and a future. The project has been running since 2019 and is located in Petite Riviere de Nippes in the south part of Haiti.
To be given the opportunity to learn is something most of us are provided with but sadly not everyone gets that choice.
Through offering the opportunity to go to school and further education or vocational training then job prospects can open up to kids who simply wouldn't get that chance. It can be the difference between a life in poverty on the streets and a life of hope and security.
